Rumor has it that Claymore is making a comeback to the ganking scene. Bow is not a melee weapon. What type of pvp?! Solo, small group, gank, hellgate, ZvZ, Arena ,etc. Sorry you need to be more specific or we can only suggest allrounders that are not the best but at least viable in most pvp types. To help you with that I will summarize some good weapons. Needless to say is there are frequently updates coming out and weapons being nerved or buffed off and on.
What I would suggest you to do is making sure you level up different weapons to T6, that way you get a proper feeling of the playstyle. For weapon references and current meta's I would suggest keeping an eye on the 'Killboad'. P fcking olehammer Enough said. Proud owner of the T8 Offhand book Rosalia's Diary. Feel free to pm me once you have your own item named in Albion.
I heard Greataxe was good for ganking and solo ow in general. I know Bow is not melee. I was just throwing that out there. Seems like I need to get to grinding and try them all out. Thank you for all the info. I can only fight on the forum because i am a bow player. Sword and halberd is just a good choice right now.
Best Melee weapon for PvP
So for example, I want to be a mage; is one type of staff better than the other types? For armor, is it more advantageous to wear tankier armor or cloth?
As far as a staff goes, it really depends on what you want to do, and the situation. As you unlock higher tier staffs, usually they have different spells for AOE or single target nukes.
But for armor- soldier boots heavy are pretty standard across the board. Then you really want to deal damage, but utility spells help if someone does make it to the back line on you. Ice block helps by making you invulnerable but can't do anything for a few seconds. Can help you get some spells of CD to save you. Knockback helps to put some distance. Blink is a nice escape.
Emergency heal is nice too. All I can say is soldier boots are used in almost every build. I played a curse staff single target nuke focused last beta. The armor has changed a bit, but I used knockback and emergency heal on my armor. Then emergency heal for, well, an emergency. A curse staff is about stacking DoTs and extending the fight while they wear your opponent down.
A fire staff user who has more DD nukes might like iceblock better to buy him time for his nuke to come off CD. A frost staff is more about kiting with slows and getting them caught in high damage AOE.
So once you pick a staff, someone can give you a better direction of armor. Gotta love the Currently it feels to be a melee-centric meta, basically it is easier to click another player while rolling your face on the keyboard than all other options.
IE: You're going to see a lot of players using hammers, claws, daggers and claymores. A sandbox is a style of game in which minimal character limitations are placed on the gamer, allowing the gamer to roam and change a virtual world at will. I can not reveal my builds to a newb like you that may out best me in a month from now! Best of luck!
There isnt a OP build! Just know what you can or cant Thats the way you play this game. I use dual swords, stalker armour, mage cowl, and soldier boots I have been playing for almost a month, and using every weapons, except those for mage.Albion News : Hello Nomasti, thanks for having time! TC back in those days were incredibly sensitive and I actually got the nickname African Warlord from them when TC found out I was Black and kept spamming racist messages to me both on Reddit and in-game.
I decided to just roll with it and decided that I might as well embrace the meme. So I started doing that and I also very rarely stream. Oh, and I was one of the people promoting how good the Heron Spear was before it became meta. Nomasti : Well when I first started playing this game it was when I was just coming off from RuneScape 3 and at that time I was really big into using spears from RuneScape, because I thought they looked cool, so I decided to also use them in Albion Online.
Then when I started using Heron more often, I realized just how superior it was to the pike since a ranged stun is far better than a snare in my opinion. AN : Ah yes! How did this impact the performance of the build? Nomasti : Max stack with soldier armor meant enemies were going to be stunned not only for the entire duration of a Forest of Spears, but also enough time for me to do a few auto attacks and lunging strikes.
Now, at max stacks I only have enough time for forest of spears and maybe one lunging strike. This can be a bit of a game changer. I did the combo and got the fire mage down to hp, but he popped cultist robes and I was unable to finish him off.
Now in the past, I would have killed him, scooped up the loot and skedaddled. So essentially the changes mean that once you do the stun, you must rely on the forest of spears. AN : Interesting, so you had to Upgrade the build to keep it working, but more risk means more reward. I just watched one of your newest videos and I am curious as part of this how you do hellgates solo. Nomasti : I remarkably have a lot of good luck doing them. I use the same build in the open world as I do in the hellgates.
Of course, sometimes I come across difficult enemies, so I must get smart. The exploding mobs are enough to literally kill them right there and then. Nomasti : You see, when people outnumber the enemy, they get overly confident and stupid, pardon the insult.
People place far too much emphasis on numbers and not enough on builds, gear, and skill in this game. Part of the skill in this game is knowing what the enemy can do and at what time they can do it.Challenge yourself with intense, exhilarating PvP fighting with the greatest warriors in the open world of Albion.

The Heretics were corrupted heavily by the magical fallout from the Great War, and are now barely recognizable as their former selves. If you disagree with anything I write in this guide, then you are not the target audience.
I am, however, open to editing in suggestions. I should also be clear that I am far from an elite player at this game.
There are thousands of players who understand this game better than I do. So I will reiterate that this is all meant to help new players transition to PvP. Thank you. This is fantastic and it is my single favorite thing ever. If you ever want this kind of information but more presentable and succinct, look at his page instead. Also, his spreadsheet in general is super useful. In Albion Online however, your character is almost entirely the gear that they wear. So there is still the traditional class system of sorts, but it is easy to swap roles on the fly.
Your tanks in these games are your initiators and often a main source of crowd control for the team. Any time an enemy is attacking, you want to try to distract them into attacking you instead of your more fragile buddies. The dps try to position to avoid getting hit as much as possible while aiming to unleash as much damage on the enemy team as possible. But Albion Online is confusing. What is the difference in terms of damage and cc potential from swords, axes, maces, hammers, spears, daggers, quarterstaves, bows, crossbows, fire staves, ice staves, arcane staves and cursed staves?
This is further complicated by the fact that each of those weapon groups have 5 variations.
Take the Sword grouping for example. You have your 3 basic variations that include broadsword, claymore and dual swords. You then also have 2 artifact variations that are clarent blade and carving sword. How do these play different? Hopefully we can come out of this with some loose idea of how to play with and against different weapon types.
Armor actually is what defines your role the most. But not just any armor. While you may think that your plate boots and hat should offer more protection than the cloth versions, they mostly do not. Statistically, your feet and head are almost identical for plate, leather and cloth. I say almost because every item in the game does have a passive skill that you can slot. For example lets compare T4 boots.
And don't forget about food and potions - you absolutely need those to be effective at lower tiers. I personally use T6 Stew and T4 poison potions. There are more viable solo builds out there, just thought I'd share my favourite. What I like about this build, is that it's very effective even at Tier 4 and most of your opponents will underestimate the power of Retaliate and Bloodlust.
And don't forget about food at potions - you absolutely need those to be effective at lower tiers. If you acquire a reputation as a mad dog, you'll be treated as a mad dog. Taken out back and slaughtered for pig feed. And what about second hand? Pocket build or Hit and Run build; they are :WarbowsBloodletterHerons Spear etc etcbuild with long range and can hit while moving or with a lot dashes sorry for my english.
Albion Online 2D — Database and Tools
Try to find a build that you enjoy playing - having fun is the best build for you. How about Dagger Pair? I like this one albiononline. Facebook 0 Twitter 0 Google Plus 0 Reddit 0.It is based on a lot of movement speed, cc, and maximum damage potential for a quick burst on unsuspecting targets.
I replaced several numbers with X in abilities due to damage scaling based on weapon and armor tier. Stacks up to 3 times. Cast time: Instant CD: 3s. Ability 2 : Dash- Dash towards targeted area.
Cast time: Instant CD: 10s Infiltration- Set a destination that you will jump to after a short delay, releasing a smoke bomb at your destination. The bomb deals X damage, and stuns any enemy target in the area for X seconds.
Ability 3 : Disembowel- Roots an enemy in place while continuously dealing X damage to the target. Cast time: Channeled CD: 30s. Light Leather Armor Chosen ability: Blink- Teleports the caster to the cursor's position, unless something is in the way.
Cast time: Instant CD: 30s Range: 11m. Cape, Horse, Bag, Food, and Potions all depend on your funds and what you are willing to lose if death occurs. With this build you can combo your movement abilities and CD reduction in order to move very fast. I use the light leather due to slightly increased stats over other light gear along with a mix of both physical and magical resistance.
Since you do not know who you will face this is a good mix of defense. One variation is to run Infiltration on claws in order to force enemies into a sleep. This ability can be used to juke some players due to its teleportation or to force enemies with crowd control breaks to use them early so you can avoid having your Disembowel broken instead. Please note that while this builds damage potential and movement is high you will be weaker to builds with large amounts of crowd control such as quarterstaves.
I do not suggest switching out blink for the chest piece's defensive CDs as it will not be as effective with this build. Also note that both the Light Leather and Claws are the final tier on the destiny board so this build will take time to grind out the fame needed. Remember that Albion Online is totally customizable so feel free to mix and match other armor types that you feel may fit!
I was inspired to make this build due to the claws Disembowel ability reminding me of Dragon Claws in the game Runescape.
